Dorset police disappointed at anti-social behaviour towards dolphins
Dorset Police have stated they are disappointed to have received a report of anti-social behaviour towards a dolphin in the Lyme Regis area.
Reckless behaviour was witnessed by people in a small boat.
Offences can be subject to a fine of up to £5,000.
Dorset Police Rural Crime Team reported: “We understand that people will want to get a better view of dolphins and other marine life. We do not want to discourage this but want to make sure people do so responsibly with respect for the marine life.
"We have received a report of water users getting far too close to cetaceans, possibly for a good photo, or because of a lack of awareness surrounding the dolphins protection, or possibly just a complete lack of regard for their safety".
