Dorset police are appealing for witnesses following incidents of theft and assault in Dorchester.

Just after midnight on Saturday 19 July, Dorset Police received a report of the theft of a bag containing a wallet and keys near Dorchester West train station.

Officers attended the incident, where an altercation had ensued between a man and a woman who were known to one another.

It was further reported by the victim – a man aged in his 30s and from Weymouth – that the woman had hit him in the face multiple times that evening.

Police Constable Harry Amos, of Dorchester police, said: “We are continuing to investigate these incidents and ascertain the full circumstances of what happened that night.

“We know that there were a number of people in The Royal Oak pub and Jagos bar that evening and so I am keen to hear from any witnesses who saw what occurred."
