Dorset County Hospital resident doctors to begin strike action
Almost a week of walkouts are expected from today (7th April)
Resident doctors at Dorset County Hospital are striking from today (7th April 2026) until 13th April.
Organised by the British Medical Association (BMA), the strike will affect patient care and hospital operations in Dorset.
The hospital will focus on urgent care during the strike, aiming to limit the impact on planned appointments.
it says patients will receive notifications if their appointments need to be rescheduled.
Those not contacted should proceed with their appointments as planned.
Urgent and emergency care services will still be available during the strike.
People with serious, life-threatening conditions are being reassured that they will be attended to at the Emergency Department (ED).
However, people are also being advised to use 999 and the ED only for life-threatening emergencies.
For other urgent care requirements, visiting NHS 111 online or calling 111 is recommended.
