Where should Dorset Council install electric car chargers?

The authority wants suggestions for expanding the network

We're being asked to help Dorset Council choose where new electric vehicle charging points should be added across the county.

The authority wants to hear our suggestions for possible EV charging locations, to boost the network where demand is greatest.

Government funding's been secured by the Council already, to provide extra facilities.

They've been installed in Martinstown, Wool, Maiden Newton, Cerne Abbas, and West Moors so far, with more areas set to benefit.

The charge points at places like Cerne Abbas aim to increase the network across Dorset and encourage more EV use

Charge points can be installed on or near the highway, at community spaces like village halls, or on private land such as pub car parks.

Cllr. Nick Ireland, Leader of Dorset Council and Cabinet Member for Climate, said:

“Whether you already drive an electric vehicle, plan to get one in the next few years, or never intend on getting one, electric vehicles are becoming more and more common. And it’s crucial that we help our communities and county prepare.

“We are committed to helping build a greener, more sustainable future for our county, and an improved charging network will be key to this.”
