A dog, which had been missing for more than a week, has been reunited with its owner after being rescued near Chapmans Pool in Kimmeridge.

Spaniel, Willow, was spotted by surfers yesterday (December 16) stranded on a ledge

Teams from Kidderminster Coastguard, St Albans Head Coastguard, and Swanage Coastguard were called to the scene at Egmont Point near Chapmans Pool after reports of a dog stuck on the beach.

Upon arriving, the teams determined that the only safe way to reach the stranded dog was to lower a rope technician along with an accompanying Coastguard Rescue Officer down the cliff.

Willow, who had been running up and down the beach, proved difficult to approach initially. However, the rescuers successfully managed to gain her trust by patiently offering dog treats.

Once she was calm, the team secured Willow in a dog recovery bag and safely brought her to the top of the cliff to reunite her with her owner.

The rescue marked the end of an nine-day search for Willow who ran off during a walk and went missing.
