A 50m cordon is still in place on Suffolk Avenue in Christchurch, after the discovery of a suspected explosive device.

It was found inside an address at around 9.35am on Monday 15 June 2026 while officers were conducting arrest enquiries.

An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team went to the scene and a cordon was put in place as a precaution for the safety of members of the public. This included the evacuation of a small number of properties in the immediate vicinity.

Two men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and remain in police custody.

The suspected explosive device was removed from the property yesterday evening and made safe.

The cordon is in close proximity to Twynham Primary School, but police are reassuring people that there is no risk to anyone attending the school, or to the wider public.

If you have been affected by the cordon and need to find out further information about returning to your property or collecting possessions, please call 101.
