CCTV appeal after assault in Wimborne

Officers are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to identify, as they investigate an assault at a pub, in Wimborne.

It was reported that around 9.15pm, on Friday 25 September 2026, a woman aged in her 40s was in The Rising Sun on East Street, when she saw a man shouting at another female.

The woman went to challenge the man and he reportedly grabbed her by the throat. Other members of the public intervened and the man left the pub.

Police Constable William Forster, of East Dorset police, said: “We have launched a full investigation into this incident and have obtained CCTV footage of a man who we would like to identify as part of our enquiries.

“I would urge anyone with information regarding this man’s identity to please contact us.”
