A burglary in Bournemouth yesterday saw a man claiming to be from a water company. He told the victim that he was there to check the pipes that caused a flooding risk.

It happened at around 11am yesterday morning (10 July) at a property in Queens Park West Drive.

The victim later realised that cash, jewellery and documentation had been stolen from a bedroom upstairs.

The man has been described as white, aged in his 40s and tall.

Dorset Police are issuing this as a warning to people in the surrounding areas, as well as an information appeal to anyone who may be able to support their investigation.

Police Constable Ryan Greenwell, of the Neighbourhood Crime Team, said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard suspicious activity in the area around the relevant time to please get in touch."

They also offer this advice:

“I would also like to remind people to not be afraid to ask questions about anyone at your door – genuine callers won’t mind.”
