Blind veteran from Weymouth takes on double 100km challenge for charity
Jerry Bradley to participate in two ultra challenges to support Blind Veterans UK
Jerry Bradley, a 63-year-old blind veteran from Weymouth, is set to face two 100km endurance walking challenges this year to raise funds for Blind Veterans UK.
Jerry will participate in the Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge on 16th May and the South Coast Ultra on 5th September, aiming to cover 200km in total and raise £2,000 for the charity.
Last year, Jerry completed the South Coast Ultra in 28 hours and 16 minutes, despite initially vowing never to undertake such a gruelling challenge again.
He expressed gratitude to his guide, Anne, who supports him in achieving these feats and building his confidence.
Jerry, who served in the RAF for 13 years, suffers from Stargardt disease, a genetic eye condition, and Charles Bonnet syndrome, which causes hallucinations.
Blind Veterans UK began supporting Jerry in 2024, facilitating his involvement in various activities that have transformed his life post-sight loss.
Jerry hopes his challenges will raise awareness and funds for the charity to help other blind veterans.
