Blind man assaulted in Weymouth as police appeal for witnesses

Attack near Manor Roundabout prompts investigation

A man in his 40s who is visually impaired was assaulted in Weymouth in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Dorset Police received a report at 2.24am on 1st January 2026 that the man was punched in the face by another individual on Dorchester Road near the Manor Roundabout.

The victim suffered a suspected mouth injury but did not need immediate medical attention.

Police Constable Aaron Strange, from Weymouth police, described the incident as an attack on a vulnerable person and said investigations are ongoing.

“I am keen to hear from any witnesses and I would also urge any motorists with dashcam who were in the area, as well as residents with home CCTV or doorbell cameras, to please review footage from around the relevant time to see if they have captured anything that might assist our enquiries,” PC Strange said.
