Residents urged to have their say on anti-social behaviour strategy in BCP
Survey to shape Safer BCP Partnership strategy
Residents in the Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole (BCP) area are being encouraged to participate in a survey to help shape the Safer BCP Partnership’s new strategy for tackling anti-social behaviour.
The partnership, which includes BCP Council, Dorset Police, the National Probation Service, and various community groups, aims to improve community safety by addressing anti-social behaviour which can include nuisances such as noisy neighbours, street drinking, and environmental issues like graffiti and fly-tipping.
Defined as behaviour causing harassment, alarm, or distress to individuals, anti-social activities can significantly impact the quality of life in communities, even when they do not constitute criminal offences.
The survey, which is confidential, seeks insights into residents' experiences and perceptions of anti-social behaviour in their area, asking about incidents they have witnessed or experienced and the effectiveness of measures taken to address them.
Residents are also invited to share their opinions on how responses to these incidents are handled.
Darmax Research Ltd has been tasked with conducting a separate household survey to ensure all communities in the BCP are represented.
Those invited to participate in the household survey are encouraged to complete it, even if they have submitted an online survey response.
As part of ongoing efforts to combat anti-social behaviour, the Safer BCP Partnership continues collaborating with the police and support services to address issues through prevention, engagement, support, and enforcement.
Despite reporting an 18 per cent reduction in anti-social behaviour incidents last year, the partnership aims to further decrease occurrences and bolster residents' sense of safety.
Residents have until the 12 July, 2026 to submit their responses, which can be completed on BCP Council’s consultation site.
For current or ongoing anti-social behaviour issues requiring immediate attention, residents are urged to report these through the BCP Council’s website.
