A campaign's been started - with the aim of raising £150,000 towards a new cancer support centre in Bournemouth.

Wessex Cancer Support say demand for their current facility in Hinton Road has more than doubled since 2023.

The money raised would go towards kitting out the new hub in Boscombe and covering the first year's running costs.

The existing Bournemouth support hub's outgrown itself, with plans for a new one, if the charity raises the money needed

The community hub will also provide vital therapy, counselling, drop-in sessions and support groups for those living with cancer and going through treatment.

Rachel Billsberry-Grass, Wessex Cancer Support’s Chief Executive, said:

“Since 2023, demand at our Bournemouth centre has more than doubled and our new centre is essential in enabling us to support more people at a time in their lives when they need it most. We hope the community will come out and support the appeal to help us create a wonderful and much-needed new space.”

There's now an appeal for the public's help to raise the money needed for the new centre.

A number of fundraising events are also planned throughout the year, starting with its first ever 80s-themed Boogie Bingo event on Friday 28th February at Key West Bar and Grill.
