Police appeal after fatal crash involving motorbike and car near Dorchester

Dorset Police are requesting help from the public after a fatal road collision involving a motorbike and a car near Dorchester.

The collision happened at 11.57am on Sunday, 14th June 2026, on the A353 at Poxwell and involved a Suzuki motorbike and a silver Vauxhall Zafira.

Emergency services attended the scene where a 22-year-old local motorcyclist was pronounced dead.

His family have been informed.

The two occupants of the Vauxhall Zafira were taken to the hospital with injuries believed to be serious.

Authorities have implemented road closures to facilitate emergency response efforts and scene examination.

Sergeant David Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said there will be a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of the collision.

He said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the motorcyclist who sadly died and we will be carrying out a thorough investigation to establish the full circumstances of this collision.

“I would urge any witnesses or anyone who may have captured relevant dashcam footage to please contact us.

“I would also like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding during the road closures.”
