More than 6,400 adult safeguarding alerts logged across BCP in a year
The Council is to receive an independent safeguarding review, highlighting key local protection issues
BCP Council is to receive an independent safeguarding review, highlighting key local protection issues, vulnerable resident risks and emerging challenges.
The Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report 2024-2025 is looking at adult protection and the role partner agencies play, in keeping vulnerable residents safe.
The document represents reporting, in the year from April 2025 to March 2026.
Throughout 2025 to 2026, the board delivered against strategic priorities in the final year of a three-year strategy, covering 2023 to 2026, summarising what it has achieved.
The report details that the board received 6,428 safeguarding alerts during 2025-26, with 1,239 progressing to formal Section 42 enquiries, predominantly involving neglect, financial harm and incidents in people’s own homes.
This report marks the final year of delivery under the board’s three-year strategic plan, alongside ongoing joint working with the Dorset Safeguarding Adults Board.
The report says that by strengthening multi-agency responses, learning from statutory safeguarding reviews into vulnerable patient deaths and working alongside health and care providers, partners can help protect residents from avoidable harm and ensure safeguarding remains everybody’s business.
The BCP Safeguarding Adults Board Annual Report 2024-2025 will be discussed at a health and wellbeing board, on October 12.
