Over £18k raised for Dorset hospice through tree collection scheme
Over 1,600 Christmas trees collected in this year's fundraising effort
A Christmas tree recycling initiative has raised £18,058 for Weldmar Hospicecare this year, breaking its previous fundraising record.
Over 1,600 trees were collected across Dorset as part of the scheme, which offers a collection service for unwanted Christmas trees to raise money for the hospice.
The funds raised will support Weldmar Hospicecare in providing specialist care for patients with life-limiting illnesses and support for their families.
The initiative was supported by Trinity Street Christmas Trees, which helped with logistics, and Knighton Countryside Management Ltd, which ensured all collected trees were sustainably disposed of by chipping them for use as biomass fuel.
A spokesperson for Weldmar Hospicecare said: “We’re absolutely thrilled with the success of this year’s Christmas Treecycle initiative. A huge thank you to our amazing partners, volunteers, local businesses, and community groups who made this possible – we certainly couldn’t have done it without you!”
