17-year-old motorcyclist dies after collision in Bridport
A man in his 30s was arrested on suspicion of driving offences following the collision on Tuesday 7 July
A teenage motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a collision in Bridport has died.
Police were called to a collision involving a white Mercedes-Benz A200 and a sliver Yamaha motorbike on the A35 Sea Road South at around 12:03am on Tuesday 7 July.
The rider of the motorbike - a 17-year-old boy from the Dorchester area was seriously injured and was taken to hospital where he died two days later on Thursday 9 July.
The driver of the car - a man aged in his 30s from West Dorset was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and subsequently taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were not believed to be serious.
Police say he has now been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
Sergeant Mike Burt, of the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said: “Our thoughts are very much with the family and loved ones of the boy who sadly died following this collision.
“We owe it to the family to conduct a thorough investigation into the full circumstances of what happened and I would urge any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to please come forward if you have not already spoken to police.”
Dorset Police are still appealing for anyone with information to contact them.
