A seal pup found on a rubbish-strewn beach in Dorset has been rescued and is undergoing rehabilitation at RSPCA West Hatch Animal Centre.

The animal, discovered by members of the public, was underweight, exhausted, and surrounded by debris with no safe place to rest. Concerned visitors contacted medics who quickly arrived to transport the pup to safety.

Now in the intensive care unit at the Somerset-based wildlife facility, the rescued seal is receiving the care it urgently needs with the hope of eventually being released back into the wild.

Medics have witnessed a rise in seals requiring assistance recently, with West Hatch’s intensive care unit filling up with animals in need.
