Person dies on railway line near Poole

A person has died on the train tracks near Poole this morning (June 12).

Emergency services were called to the scene at around 6:32am.

The British Transport Police say the incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.

All lines between Bournemouth and Weymouth remain closed while emergency services are at the scene.

Network Rail say trains may be cancelled or delayed until early this afternoon.

A spokesperson for the British Transport Police said: "Officers were called to the line in Poole at 6.32am today (12 June) following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
