Police are appealing for witnesses after a taxi driver in Bournemouth was assaulted.

On the evening of 8th April, a group of passengers was picked up from Westover Road.

It is reported that one member of the group began shaking the driver’s seat repeatedly.

The taxi driver stopped the vehicle and requested the group to exit.

A male passenger then punched the driver in the face and verbally abused him.

Police Constable Jack Tweed from Bournemouth police stated, "This was an unprovoked assault on a man who was just trying to do his job."

Police are urging anyone who recognises the man in the image to contact them.

The independent charity Crimestoppers is also available for anonymous tips online.
