Former PC to appeal outcome of gross misconduct hearing

PC Lorne Castle was dismissed from the Force after a panel found that he "failed to act with self-control"

A former Dorset Police officer who was sacked over his arrest of a teenager in Bournemouth is to appeal the outcome of his gross misconduct hearing.

The update has come form the Dorset Police Federation.

PC Lorne Castle was dismissed from the Force after a panel found that he "failed to act with self-control".

In a statement, the Dorset Police Federation said: "Dorset Police Federation are able to officially confirm that Dorset Police have been provided with notification of the intention to appeal against the outcome of the Gross Misconduct hearing against PC Lorne Castle, which concluded on 29 May 2025, resulting in his dismissal from Dorset Police.

"The Federation are unable to comment further on this matter at this time, other than to say that Lorne continues to be overwhelmed by the many messages of support he has received from all sections of the community as well as from former and serving colleagues.

"He and his family have been extremely touched and are very grateful to all those who have assisted them through this difficult time."
