People across the East Midlands are being recognised in the New Year Honours
David Nunn from Nottinghamshire will receive the British Empire Medal

A Nottinghamshire man who bought recognition and remembrance for those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country is being recognised in the New Year Honours.
David Nunn has received the British Empire Medal after working on projects to honour the lives of those from Nottinghamshire who died during the First World War
He tells us why sharing these records are important
"It's certainly very important to families of people who have relatives that have been killed.
"I've lost count of how many emails I received from different people saying thank you for putting so and so on your website.
"Their memories are alive to families and they are very grateful that their records should be preserved"
Mr Nunn is being recognised for voluntary service to the Great War Memorial in Kimberley in Nottinghamshire)
The official opening, by the Duke of Kent of the memorial resulting from David’s work, was held on the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Versailles Treaty.
His work continues with his project team on a similar plan to honour all who fell from the area during World War II. He has been awarded the Freedom of the Borough of Broxtowe.
Other people who are being recognised across the East Midlands include:
- Professor Paul Steven Monks from Leicester is the Director General, Chief Scientific Adviser, Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. He will receive a Companions of the Order of the Bath For services to Science in Government.
- Sonia Penny Briscoe from Nottingham will get OBE. Chef de Mission, Paralympics GB. For services to Paralympic Sport
- Marvin Lee Cooke from Derby also gets an OBE. Lately Executive Vice-President, Toyota Motor Europe. For services to Automotive Manufacturing.
- Timothy Henry Ralph Porter from Leicester gets and OBE for services to Animal Welfare.
- Dawn Lesley Astle from Swadlincote is the Founder of the Jeff Astle Foundation. For services to Footballers with Dementia - she will get an MBE.
- Betty Cobley gets and MBE for Charitable Service in Leicester.
