Chesterfield assistant manager Danny Webb is departing the North Derbyshire side to take over as head coach of Yeovil Town.

The 42 year old ex-defender took over as Chesterfield caretaker manager in 2022, remaining with the Spireites since.

Commenting, first-team coach Gary Roberts said: “Since the first day I walked through the door, Danny was absolutely spot-on with me."

"I knew the club a little bit anyway because I’d been here previously, but when you go into a new place it’s a little bit strange.

“I can only speak personally, he’s been absolutely top draw, and I’ll miss him. I will miss him as a person, as someone you lean on and as a fellow coach. He’s a great character and he will be missed here.

“We’ve been through a lot. We’ve had multiple play -offs, we’ve had a heartache at Wembley and we’ve had a win in the National League when we blew the league away – they’re good memories to have.

"Danny’s thought that it is the time to go on and have a go himself and we’re right behind him.”
