Young people in Westmorland and Furness are being encouraged to share their ideas and experiences to help shape the future of their community through a new survey.

The survey is designed to gather insights from children and adolescents on various aspects of growing up in the area, aiming to make it more fun, safe, and supportive.

It is open to all young people aged between seven and 17 and will remain accessible until 30th April 2026.

Why Your Input Matters

According to Cllr Janet Battye, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, the council is eager to hear directly from young people to understand what it’s like to grow up in Westmorland and Furness.

Cllr Battye emphasised that the feedback will help create a child-friendly future, making youths feel supported and able to thrive.

Mil Vasic, Director of Children’s Services, highlighted the importance of listening to young people to enhance their experiences.

"What you tell us in this survey will help decide what happens next, from activities and spaces to support and services," Vasic said.

Young people have the opportunity to influence several key areas, including:

Places to meet
