One of the Roll of Honour boards in Vulcan Park in Workington has been damaged ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

Workington Town Council shared the news in a post on Facebook.

The council said the boards are an important tribute to local people who lost their lives during the First World War.

It said it was saddened to see one of them damaged, particularly so close to Remembrance Sunday.

The council described it as "extremely disappointing" to see the board in that condition.

It said arrangements will be made for the damaged board to be replaced.

The council said this will not be possible before Remembrance Sunday this weekend.

It added: "We appreciate your understanding and hope that everyone will continue to treat these important tributes with the respect they deserve."
