This was the scene that met one of the officers from Cumbria Police who ran out of Workington Police Station yesterday afternoon (7 Dec), following a report of a road traffic collision.

The car on its roof was driven by a woman who had three children in the vehicle.

After making sure everyone was okay, the officer subjected the driver to a roadside breath test.

She blew more than double the legal limit for alcohol and was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and child neglect.

She remains in police custody today (8 Dec).

The arrest was made during Operation Limit – Cumbria Police’s operation dedicated to keeping the roads safe by targeting dangerous drivers, including drink and drug drivers.

During the 2024 Op Limit, we arrested more than 200 drivers for drug or drink-driving.
