A woman has died following a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian in Carlisle

A woman has died following a collision in Carlisle city centre which involved a bus and a pedestrian.

Officers were contacted at 8:26am on Friday 8th August following a collision at the bus station on Lonsdale Street.

A 73-year-old woman named as Ann Weymouth, of Sunnymeade, Carlisle was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, she died in hospital yesterday afternoon (10 August).

In a statement, the family of Ann have paid the following tribute to her life:

''Ann was the kindest, most caring person we knew, and she was taken away far too soon.

"Ann was a loving mother to Joanne and Keith, loving Nan to Ashley, Callum, Connor, Oscar, Toby, and Daniel.

"Ann was a loving sibling to Robert, Susan, John and George.

“She'll be forever helping others''.

An investigation into the full circumstances of the collision remains ongoing

Cumbria Police said:
