Police in West Cumbria are urging parents and guardians to check their children's phones due to concerns surrounding a WhatsApp group named "100 before 2027."

The group appears to be gaining traction among local children, with suspicions that it encourages self-harm and suicide.

Authorities became aware of the group following a Facebook post by a concerned parent from a different school setting.

Given the nature of the potential threat, parents are advised to verify whether their children are accessing or participating in the discussion within the group and block it if necessary.

WhatsApp's terms of service require users to be 13 years or older, highlighting the importance for parents to regulate their children's online activities.

If a child has joined the group or if there is any relevant information about its content, police request that it be reported directly to them to aid in their investigation.
