A further meeting will be held this week for people still not able to return to their homes following an explosion in Whitehaven.

Residents were forced to evacuate due to the incident on Hugh Street on New Year's Eve - in which three people were seriously injured

12 households were able to return to their properties last Saturday.

As a goodwill gesture Cumberland Council provided each property with a £100 Tesco voucher.

Demolition of one of the properties and the partial demolition of another started on Tuesday.
