A man from Glasgow has been jailed for eight years after police found millions of pounds worth of cocaine in his car in Cumbria.

33-year-old Scott Tobin was stopped near Penrith in November, where officers discovered thirty blocks of cocaine hidden in the boot.

The drugs were worth around two-point-four million pounds.

Tobin was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today (17th December) after pleading guilty at an earlier hearing.

A spokesperson from Westmorland and Furness’s Community and Serious Organised Crime (CSOC) Unit said: “The actions of the officers who stopped Tobin’s vehicle that day have ensured millions-of-pounds-worth of drugs never make it onto the streets.

“I hope this seizure and sentencing demonstrate our firm commitment to tackling drug-related crime.

“Drug use and drug dealing can have serious consequences for individuals, their loved ones, and the wider community. By intercepting over £2 million worth of drugs, we’ve taken a significant step in reducing the potential for drug-related harm and crime.”
