Abandoned Canoe prompts police to search River Derwent

Police seek information after an unaccompanied canoe is found near Workington Bridge

Emergency services are actively searching the River Derwent after an unaccompanied canoe was found near Workington Bridge.

The discovery was reported to the police shortly before 8pm on 23rd July.

The canoe was located using the What3Words location: crops.harmonica.suppers.

No individuals have been reported missing, and there have been no sightings of anyone in trouble in the water.

Despite this, the presence of the unaccompanied canoe has prompted emergency services to conduct thorough searches to ensure no one has fallen into the river.

Cumbria Police is appealing for anyone who believes the canoe may belong to them to come forward.

The police are also inviting anyone with information that could assist in their search to get in touch.
