Police seek witnesses after fatal crash on A66 near Thornthwaite

Early morning collision claims one life and injures another

Cumbria Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision on the A66 near Thornthwaite in the early hours of 6th June.

The incident involved two vehicles, a Ford and a Dacia, and was reported to officers at 1.18am.

The driver of the Dacia, a man in his forties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the driver of the Ford was transported to hospital with injuries deemed non-life-threatening.

Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant information to contact them.

Individuals with pertinent details are encouraged to call 101, citing incident number 23 of 6th June.
