Arrest for man who reportedly fired rocks at kids with sling shot in Penrith

An arrest has been made following reports of a man using a sling shot to fire rocks at children in Penrith.

A 51-year-old man from Penrith has been arrested on suspicion of assault by beating and possession of an offensive weapon.

Officers say the incident happened at the Beacon on the afternoon of 14th March.

Fortunately no children were injured.

Cumbria police are continuing to investigate the incident and are urging anyone with any information to contact them by calling 101, quoting incident number 152 of 14 March 2026.
