Brampton Golf Club, located on Tarn Road in North Cumbria, has obtained planning permission from Cumberland Council to redevelop its clubhouse after an almost two-year wait.

Originally designed by renowned golfer and course designer James Braid, the club now plans to provide overnight guest accommodation, a function room, PV panels, furniture store and plant room extensions, EV parking bays, and associated infrastructure.

Club Chairman Lionel Dobson expressed optimism about this development, noting it aligns with their long-term plan to expand the club further.

Dobson said: "It has taken a bit longer than we had planned for, which will mean we will do the work in stages."

While the timeline for the completion of these upgrades remains uncertain, Dobson indicated that some facilities will be upgraded within the next six to nine months.

Club Operations Manager Jamie Miles emphasized the importance of planning permission in supporting their ongoing ambition to improve member and visitor experiences.

"I think that we’ve shown in the short term, even just this last year, that the investment that we’ve made in the golf shop, taking that in-house, we’ve got a state-of-the-art golf simulator that can be used by our teaching pros," Miles said.

The redevelopment plans will increase the internal floorspace by 164 square metres to a total of 965 square metres and add 30 extra parking spaces, resulting in a total of 123 spaces.
