Man named following fatal crash near A591

Police in Cumbria have confirmed the man who died in a crash on the A591 has been identified as Derek Swarbrick.

Officers were called to a two-vehicle collision on the A591, near Winter Lane, on Saturday afternoon (11 October).

The collision involved a Peugeot 108 and a Volkswagen Golf.

The driver of the Peugeot, Derek Swarbrick, who is in his eighties and from Kendal, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a man in his twenties, sustained non-serious injuries that didn’t require hospital treatment.

Police are still investigating and appealing for witnesses to come forward.
