A man has been jailed following a violent assault at a petrol station in Barrow.
28-year-old Brandon Stone, of Barrow, was sentenced to two years and two months imprisonment at Preston Crown Court yesterday (26th May) after pleading guilty to GBH at an earlier hearing.
The court heard how on the 10th of August last year at around 3:35am, police were alerted to an incident on the forecourt of Shell Garage on Abbey Road, Barrow, where a man had been assaulted.
From examining CCTV footage, officers were able to establish that following a verbal altercation, Stone had punched the victim in the head, knocking him to the floor. He then punched him a further nineteen times and kicked him eight times to the head and face.
Following the assault, the victim was treated in hospital where he was confirmed to have sustained injuries to his face, including a broken jaw which required surgery to insert metal plates.
When arrested, Stone gave no comment responses in interview, but later admitted the offence in court.
T/Detective Constable Beth Dowden, of Barrow CID, said: “This was a vicious attack that left the victim with serious and long lasting injuries. "
“We take violent crime extremely seriously, and those responsible can expect to face the courts."
“This conviction shows Cumbria Police’s commitment to ensuring offenders are held accountable and brought to justice.”
