A man's had his sentence increased after a judge ruled it was too lenient.

31-year-old Jacob Corrie was originally jailed for six years and four months for a number of child sexual offences in the Carlisle area in April.

They happened in 2013 and 2014.

But after a review by the Court of Appeal today, his sentence has been increased to ten years and four months.

The sentence was referred by the Solicitor General to the Court of Appeal for review as being unduly lenient.

Speaking on the appeal Detective Constable Rebecca Lynch from Cumberland CID said:

“We welcome the revised sentence for Corrie, who committed numerous offences against his underage victims.

“Today’s outcome ensures he spends further time in prison out of our community for these serious offences.

“We continue to urge anyone who has been victim of a sexual offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate. You will be supported throughout our investigation which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.”
