An 18-year-old man has died following a collision near Hesket Newmarket.

Police were called out on Saturday evening just after 7pm on the 9th August to a one vehicle collision on the C2049.

The collision involved a red Vauxhall Astra.

The passenger, an 18-year-old man from Carlisle, died at the scene.

A driver, also an 18-year-old man from Carlisle, was airlifted to hospital. His condition is described as serious but stable.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information which man help officers are asked to contact police.
