A man is due to appear in court today (13 November) after police seized suspected Class A drugs during a vehicle stop on the A590 earlier this week.

James Hurst, 38, of Dunkirk Lane, Leyland, Lancashire, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

Officers from Cumbria Police’s Roads Policing Unit stopped a car at around 10.15pm on Tuesday (11 November) and carried out a search, leading to the discovery of the suspected drugs.

Hurst is due to appear before Barrow Magistrates’ Court this morning.

A second man who was also arrested has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

The case is being led by officers from the Westmorland and Furness Serious Organised Crime (CSOC) Unit and forms part of Operation Alliance, Cumbria Police’s ongoing initiative to tackle serious and organised crime across the county.

Police are urging anyone with information or concerns about drug dealing in their area to come forward.
