Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after Carlisle incident

Police investigating an incident in Carlisle, involving a van and a pedestrian yesterday (4 Jan), have arrested a man.

A 29-year-old man from Carlisle has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody.

The van involved has also been recovered.

The victim remains in hospital in a critical, but stable, condition.

Detectives are continuing to appeal for anyone with any information to come forward.

Officers are particularly keen for anyone who was in the Prescott Road area, and surrounding areas, at the time of the incident (2:50pm on 4 January) to check any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage which may be relevant to the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police via 101.

Residents may see an increased police presence in the area while officers conduct enquiries.
