Kendal's Nether Bridge reopens to all vehicles after wall rebuilt
Repair work finished two days ahead of schedule
Nether Bridge in Kendal reopened to all vehicles last night after a section of its parapet wall was rebuilt.
Westmorland and Furness Council said the work was finished two days ahead of schedule.
The bridge is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
The council said work started on Monday.
It was closed 24 hours a day while a 10-metre section of the southern parapet wall was reconstructed.
The council said the wall was demolished in June.
The council thanked the contractor in a social media post.
It said: 'Many thanks to contractor Metcalfe Plant Hire for their expert work and for completing the project two days ahead of schedule.'
