Residents of Kendal are gearing up to participate in the "Give a Day to Kendal" initiative running from 1st to 7th June 2026.

The event coincides with National Volunteers' Week and sees volunteers commit time to community projects across the town.

Organised by Churches Together in Cumbria with support from various local councils and organisations, the initiative has taken nearly six months to plan.

The first two days, 1st and 2nd June, will concentrate on enhancing four of Kendal's most frequented town yards.

Efforts will include clean-up activities, painting, and environmental improvements overseen by Kendal Business Improvement District.

On 5th June, volunteers will contribute to further projects: refurbishing Netherfield Cricket Club and replacing a polytunnel at Growing Well, a mental health charity.

Jonny Gios, leading the initiative, emphasised the collaborative spirit: “Give a Day to Kendal is about people from all walks of life coming together to make a positive difference in our community.”

Despite the broad engagement, one project—refurbishment of the pavilion on Millennium Fields—could not proceed due to extensive damage.

An appeal is underway for funders to support its restoration.
