Four men have been injured as two groups clashed at the disused Gilsland Spa Hotel.

Cumbria Police tell us a vehicle has also been damaged.

They're also denying rumours there are plans to use the derelict building for asylum seekers.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said:

"Detectives are investigating a robbery and assault which is reported to have occurred in the area of the derelict Gilsland Spa Hotel.

"It is reported to have involved two groups of men, four of the men suffered injures following the incident and damage was caused to a vehicle.

"Investigations are ongoing by detectives who are conducting a number of enquiries.

"The hotel is currently derelict and contrary to some speculation there is no information to support that it is being used or is intended to be used as an Asylum seeker hotel."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident number 178 of 29 July 2025.
