Four arrested after alleged firearms incident in Carlisle

Four people have been arrested following an incident in the Strand Road area of Carlisle.

Police were called at 11:12am to a report of a group of people in possession of an alleged firearm within a vehicle.

Firearms officers were deployed and swiftly detained four people.

Two boys aged 17, one man aged 20 and a woman aged 18, have been arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm. They will be detained for questioning.

Cumbria Police said people would see "an increased police presence in the area while enquiries are being carried out."

They added that "there is no wider risk to the public."
