It's in place for 10 working days, for repairs

After recent deterioration of the U4070 Corney Fell Road, Cumberland Council has put in place an emergency closure on the road, to allow repair works to be carried out safely. The closure is in place from yesterday (April 1) for ten working days, subject to weather and site conditions.

The closure is required to enable the council to undertake emergency carriageway patching and drainage works.

During the road closure, access for residents will be limited during working hours of 08.00am to 4.00pm. However please see the traffic marshalls, who will always be onsite during the works, who will help to get you to your property, when it is safe to do so.

Full access will be available for emergency service vehicles (Green/Blue Lights only), pedestrians and dismounted cyclists throughout the works.

Waste and recycling collections will proceed as usual. Passengers with bus route questions are encouraged to contact Stagecoach directly.

Cumberland Council says it recognises that the roads in question are key routes for local residence and some temporary inconvenience may occur during these works. It says it's working closely with local stakeholders, including Parish Councils and local members, to reduce disruption as much as possible.
