A rescue operation for a seriously injured person in Langdale was hampered by a drone flown irresponsibly in the area over the weekend.

South Lakes Police, along with other agencies, assisted in the mountain rescue.

The casualty was eventually airlifted from the fell by a Coastguard helicopter.

According to the police, the drone's presence posed a risk to the safety of the helicopter and its crew, as well as to the dignity and safety of the person being rescued.

Authorities are reminding the public to operate drones legally and responsibly, especially during rescue operations.
