Driver dies after car crashes into tree on A591 near Kendal

A driver of a Mercedes has died following a collision on the A591 south of Kendal this afternoon.

The accident occurred when the car left the road and hit a tree.

Emergency services are currently at the scene.

The northbound section of the road between Brettagh Holt and Prizet is closed, and motorists are advised to avoid the area.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information that may assist the investigation to come forward.
