Driver arrested after collision near Wigton

A motorist has been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving and possession of cannabis.

This follows a high-speed crash near Wigton on Saturday night.

Cumbria police stated:

"Officers are investigating but it is believed the car left the road at high speed before striking a tree some 10-feet up the trunk, before finally coming to rest 40-50 feet down the road – with the engine ejected another 10 or 20 feet."
