The Dockray footbridge in Kendal is scheduled for closure as part of essential maintenance work over seven working days in April.

The closure will facilitate the replacement of select anti-slip panels on the bridge's timber decking and minor repairs to corroding metalwork.

Planned closure times are as follows:

Thursday 9th April and Friday 10th April between 8am and 5am.

Monday 13th April to Friday 17th April, from 9am to 3pm.

The timings are designed to ensure minimal disruption, particularly for schoolchildren accessing The Queen Katherine School during their commute.

Cllr Peter Thornton, Cabinet Member for Highways and ICT, emphasized the balance between essential maintenance and minimizing local disruption. He said, "We have timed this work to start in the Easter holidays, so further work will not impact pupils going to and from school."
