Death of woman in her 70s in fatal Cockermouth crash leads to police appeal

Police are appealing for information after a woman in her 70s died at the scene of a collision in Cockermouth.

The crash involved a car and pedestrian, and occurred on Lamplugh Road at 21:09.

The pedestrian was a woman in her 70s, who sadly died at the scene.

The driver of the car, a man in his 30s, is assisting police with their investigation.

Lamplugh Road was closed for a number of hours whilst a forensic investigation was carried out.

Cumbria Police are appealing for any information relating to the incident.
