Cyclist knocked off bike by pickup truck's wingmirror in Carlisle

Police are investigating the incident

A 61-year-old cyclist has been injured after he was knocked off his bicycle by a pickup truck's wingmirror in Carlisle.

The incident happened at around 2.50pm on Wednesday 22 April on the road between Great Corby and the A69.

A Cumbria Police spokesperson said "A cyclist was riding his bicycle on the road and has been overtaken by a pickup style vehicle with a logo "HIGHWAY" or "ROAD" MAINTENANCE.

"During the overtake, the vehicle's wingmirror has clipped the victim, causing him to fall off of his bicycle and into the road.

"The cyclist - a 61-year-old man - sustained injuries including cuts and scrapes to both hands and the top of his right thigh, and bruising to the top of his right arm."

Police are investigating and are urging anyone with information that could assist to come forward.
